The French startup IGUANEYE has recently developed a new customizable 3D printed sandal, which help’s the wearer’s feet be able to breathe without hindering mobility. The product, which has been named “IGUANEYE Jungle,” will be featured in an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The startup was founded years ago when it launched its first product Freshoes. The company’s goal is to create footwear that comes closes to being barefoot, while still protecting and supporting your feet. The company’s founder and designer has taken his design inspiration from indigenous Amazonian peoples, who would dip their feet into liquid rubber to protect them in the jungle. The founder, Oliver Taco, has been conceiving and designing shoes for the past two decades and has been drawn towards minimal structures. Oliver also wanted to solve the “flip-flop paradox” which is when we want to liberate our feet, but it impedes out movement by doing so. He wanted to deliver a product to give us that freedom while still adding support to allow any type of movement.

The shoe is made of two main parts; a flexible toe and heel made from technical rubber, which wraps around the wearer’s big toe and heel, and a sole that is both thick and comfortable. The pieces of the shoe are like a 3D puzzle, which can be easily taken apart and put back together. The Jungle shoe was made using Rhinoceros 3D and prototyped using 3D printing technologies. Innovations like this are what keep 3DShoes.com so interested in the industry. The 3D printing was done with the help of INPACT, who used a 3D Systems SLS 3D printer to manufacture the prototypes. Down the road, IGUANEYE hopes to partner with a 3D printing facility to develop other new and innovative products. Oliver has even thought about the possibility of investing in 3D printers for the company to produce products internally. The company’s IGUANEYE Jungle Indiegogo campaign is set to launch on December 7th.
