Finn Rush-Taylor Studio’s 3D-Printed Shoe Puts Innovation at the Fore

In collaboration with 3D-printing technology developer Zellerfeld, Finn Rush-Taylor Studio is looking to innovate the future of footwear. For their latest team-up, the close-knit collaborators concocted a 3D-printed footwear silhouette, dubbed the NAMI shoe.

The sneaker, which gets its name from Japanese origin, boasts Rush-Taylor’s classic asymmetrical design codes, drawing inspiration from the natural cadence of water ripples and waves. A “subtle performance silhouette,” the tech-forward shoe appears in a bold purple tone.

To create the NAMI, Rush-Taylor first developed the design concept in virtual reality with a three-dimensional layout. From there, the designer produced rapid prototypes to perfect his silhouette, testing various fits, shapes and key design features with each model.

“I hope this release with Zellerfeld signifies a change in the industry which is long overdue, where creators don’t have to answer to a hierarchy and can release a product that is daring and their own vision,” said Rush-Taylor in a statement. “I believe in a future where the creator has full control over their vision and has a platform that pushes for that.”

“With the launch of NAMI with Finn Rush-Taylor – 3D-printing makes history again,” added Cornelius Schmitt, CEO and co-founder of Zellerfeld. “For the first time ever, a creative can launch his own sneaker brand from nothing. The release of the NAMI is an absolute statement to the footwear industry. A statement for change, and for always being rebellious.”

The NAMI shoes are now available to shop on the Zellerfeld App for $250 USD. To cop a pair, apply to the beta program and scan your feet for a custom-fitted model.
